It features on the State flag and the city's major river system was named after this elegant water bird. The lake is surrounded by spacious lawns and a walk and cycle path, making it popular among locals who go walking, jogging and cycling at all times of the day. It's also the perfect place for a picnic. Lake Monger is in the suburb of Leederville, which is a five minute drive from Perth.
